Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has been Officially Revealed

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has officially been unveiled at the Berlin Unpacked Event. The newest phablet from Samsung sure brings a lot of great features to the table, but let’s start by taking a look at the hardware and features this thing packs:

    1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor
    2GB of RAM
    5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD1280 x 720 display
    Size: 80 x 151.1 x 9.4mm thin
    Weight: 180 grams
    16/32/64GB on-board memory
microSDHC support of up to 64GB of additional storage
    2-megapixel front cam
    8-megapixel rear cam
    HSPA+ support
4G LTE connectivity (in selected markets)
    Bluetooth 4.0
    Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n
    Wi-Fi Direct
    USB 2.0 support
    A-GPS and Glonass support
    3,100mAh removable battery
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with TouchWiz
Redesigned S Pen with better grip and rubber tip.

The Galaxy Note 2 rocks some pretty good specs as you can see. The S-Pen has really uped its game this time around, offering S-Pen related tricks that allow things like hoovering over icons in order to to take a peak at email lists and other contents. Worried about leaving your stylus behind? If you try to leave without it, the Note 2 will quickly warn you that they are about to leave the Stylus behind.

The Galaxy Note 2 seems to be a worth successor to the popular Note, that’s for sure. So when is it coming? For now all we know is that it is destined to arrive sometime in October for the European, Asian and Middle Eastern market.

For the North American market though? It’s coming sometime 2012, or so we are hearing, but that’s all we know for sure. Pricing has also yet to be revealed, but considering the OG Note premiered at a $300 price point with two year contract, the Note 2 might take a similar approach.

What do you think of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2?

iPhone 5 aside, what is NFC? (FAQ)

Whether NFC lands on the iPhone 5 or not, it's a technology that's appearing on a lot of high-profile devices.

Though it's increasingly less certain that near field communication (NFC) will appear in the iPhone 5, it's a technology that's built into a lot of high-profile products already. So, what is it exactly? And how relevant is it today?

What is NFC?
NFC is a short-range wireless connectivity technology that uses magnetic-field induction to enable communication between electronic devices in close proximity. (Faraday's law: any change in the magnetic environment of a coil of wire will cause a voltage to be induced in the coil.)

NFC can operate in three modes, according to an NFC whitepaper:

Smart tag: In this case, the user touches, for example, a mobile phone against an NFC tag, which provides a small amount of information to the device. This could be used for getting information about a product in store or for downloading information about medication.
Peer-to-peer: Sharing contacts, Web pages, or a YouTube video with another NFC-capable phone is a common example. Another is using NFC to establish another wireless connection method, such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. For example, when you need to print out photos taken with a digital camera. By touching the device to an NFC-enabled printer, a Bluetooth connection is established to transmit the digital photos to the printer.

Payment: Payment and ticketing applications were one of the drivers for the creation of the NFC standard, according to NFC-Forum.org. Basically, a quick tap and the transaction is completed. The goal -- when the infrastructure and security is in place and the dust settles from skirmishes about standards -- is to have NFC-enabled devices used as widely as credit cards are today.

What high-profile devices are out there today with NFC?
It's a pretty long list but some of the more notable devices are the Google Nexus S, Google Nexus 7 tablet, HTC One X, Motorola Droid Razr (not advertised but included), Samsung Galaxy Note, and Samsung Galaxy S2/S3. And there's even a pretty high-profile laptop out there with NFC, HP's Envy 14 Spectre ultrabook.

So, how widely used is NFC today?
It's the proverbial chicken-and-egg problem. If it's not on your device (or you don't use it even if it is), then retailers have less incentive to add terminals. Market researcher Gartner places NFC payment between the "Peak of Inflated Expectations" and the "Trough of Disillusionment" in its annual Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies. NFC payments are still seen as being 5 to 10 years away.

But all the big credit card players are trying to implement NFC, to one degree or another. That includes Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. And throw in all of the major mobile players too: AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile USA, and Sprint. And Google too, with its Google Wallet.

That said, NFC is caught in the usual standards battles, and it could take years to decide a winner and/or deploy an infrastructure that supports multiple standards.

How Free Apps Can Make More Money Than Paid Apps

While building apps for Apple and Android app stores can be highly lucrative ventures for developers, one of the hardest decisions an app developer has to make is how to get the app to pay for itself. Often the “monetization strategy” — shorthand for “how will this app make money?” — is left for last.

It’s hard enough to get discovered by consumers among the millions of already existing apps, not to mention convince people to buy it. People increasingly prefer free, ad-supported apps for their tablets and smartphones, yet many developers still aren’t sure how to tackle the free vs. paid issue. Deciding when to charge for your app, and when to try an ad-supported model, is one of the hardest decisions developers must make.

Four Monetization Strategies for Apps? Actually, There Are Only Two.

Developers have several monetization options available, each with its own requirements and pitfalls.

Before moving forward with a strategy though, there are a few of questions an app developer should explore in order to answer the ultimate question, “how can I monetize my app?”

1.       Is my app engaging enough for people to use it often?

2.       How willing are people to pay an up-front fee for my app?

3.       How do competitors in my space monetize their apps, and how successful are their strategies?

As app markets across platforms explode, developers are talking to each other to determine the best type of monetization model to use. Most will tell you it’s a choice among four major options:

1.       selling your app in the app store

2.       offering a free, subscription-supported app

3.       offering a free app, with in-app purchases

4.       offering a free, ad-supported app

But the choice really boils down to two strategies: getting paid by users or getting paid by advertisers.

Who Pays More for Apps: Users or Advertisers? (AKA Which Monetization Strategy Makes More Money: Free or Paid?

When it comes to users, the overwhelming majority of Android and iOS users resist paying — whether it’s for apps, subscriptions, or add-ons–so smartphone and tablet developers are particularly interested in experimenting with monetization through ads. On the other hand, advertisers are MUCH more willing to pay developers than users are. Just like developers, advertisers need to market their product.

How Much Money Can an App Make With Advertising?

Ad spending on apps of all kinds – both mobile and desktop — is growing. Most industry analysts choose to measure only mobile app spending though, as most apps are created for the mobile and smartphone space. Mobile advertising revenue increased nearly 1.5X in 2011, to top out at $1.6 billion for the year.

The future of app monetization clearly lies in ad-supported model. A recent study by Cambridge University computer scientists found that 73% of apps in the Android marketplace were free, and of those, 80% relied on advertising as their main business model. Free apps are also far more popular in terms of downloads, the researchers said. Just 20% of paid apps are downloaded more than 100 times and only 0.2% of paid apps are downloaded more than 10,000 times. On the flipside, 20% of free apps get 10,000 or more downloads.

The Best Part Is: You Can Deploy Multiple Monetization Strategies

While free apps reach the majority of users who tend to be price-sensitive and almost never buy apps, there is a subset of users who prefer to avoid advertising and seek paid (sometimes called “pro”) versions of their favorite apps.

Developers can cater to both types of users with a two-pronged approach to app development: create both a free version and a paid version. The multi-pronged approach is popular with big players in the publishing industry. For example, The Guardian (UK) is testing two apps: a free, ad-supported Android app and a paid-only iPhone app. Echofon is also a great example of an app that caters to both kinds of users. They have free and paid apps for all platform versions of their Twitter apps.

In short, before moving forward, investigate all ad-supported revenue options when you launch a new app. There are many ad networks available – shop around and see what CPMs (cost per thousand impressions) or CPCs (cost per click) they offer and how much work is involved integrating ads into your app.
RapidPRotect-- A best family tracking mobile app
Rapidsoftsystems-- A software and Hardware development Caompany, USA

And more than anything, make sure to consider any changes to the user experience that will occur if you introduce by the ads. After all, you want ads that integrate well into the user experience, rather than ads that drive users away in annoyance.

The Slow and Awful iOS Facebook App is No More, New Version Brings Major Improvements

Facebook finally received a new update to its iOS app today. What’s new and is it much of an improvement over the last version? First, it has been totally rebuilt so its easier to use than ever, and faster, too. What else is improved? The scrolling through the news feed is also faster, there is a new banner for news stores, and photos open up fast and easy.

The bottom-line is that they have truly taken a less-than-great iOS app and turned it into something worthwhile. The update is also not particularly large, with Facebook 5.0 being just a 7.3MB download.

So why is this app so much faster than the previous version? Part of the reason might be because the new version was rebuilt using Objective-C, the language used for native iOS apps, while the prior version was built using the web-based HTML5.

The Android version has also received an update, but there isn’t nearly the same level of improvements heading to Android users. While the iOS app is now native, the Android version continues to make use of HTML5 and continues to have many of the same problems that the previous version of the iOS app did. For now, the iOS version of Facebook is now largely superior, but hopefully this will be rectified in the near future.

Want to Exchange and Sell Notes, Books in your Own Campus ?

Campusa2z Network is a public website with the purpose of connecting textbook buyers and sellers so that they may purchase or sell their books in person or through the mail. The intended audience is individual college students, though anyone may use the site to buy and/or sell text books.
Campusa2z Network is unique among other book sales websites in that it provides a way for users to find other students within their own school, program of study, and/or geographic area. This allows users the option to complete transactions in person and avoid the hassles and fees involved in shipping and online payment methods. It allows sellers to leave a book available for sale indefinitely (as opposed to a fixed-length auction site). Sellers may also set a desired price and accept or reject offers.
Campusa2z Network is also unique in that it is free to use for both buyers and sellers. A fee is only charged if you use CampusXchange to collect payment on your behalf for the books or items on the site.
Campusa2z Network has two different types of users: Guests (anonymous visitors) and registered users. Registered users may be buyers and/or sellers at any given time. Guest can only browse.
Campusa2z Network’s primary aim is to enable person to person exchange whenever possible within an student community of a University Campus. Buyers and sellers are put in contact with each other through the forms provided on the website and they are prompted to follow a series of steps in order to buy or sell books. All transactions utilize usernames, so the e-mail addresses are concealed until the transaction has successfully completed.
When personal can also collect payment for any transaction on behalf of the users, if so required.
Why Use Used Books?
The rising cost of higher education means higher financial burden on everyone. Paying for a higher education these days is not easy. In addition to paying today’s steep tuition prices, students are required to invest in prescribed text books. At the end of the term, once you’re done with those books, they’re of no use to you anymore. They are virtually of no use to you. That was until now. Instead of making that money sit in your bookshelves, you could now sell your textbooks to your friends that will take the same course in the next term. It will get you cash that you can use to buy other text books for your new course. This is a win-win situation for everyone. We aim to reduce the cost to successfully complete your studies.
Depending on what you’re going to be majoring in, you may have to take a very broad assortment of classes ? This usually means a fairly high textbook bill! Whether you need a math textbook, chemistry textbook, or an economics textbook, you’ll be able to save a considerable amount of money by recycling them to other students in your departments instead. Used textbooks can save you a little cash, but you’ll save even more money by buying or selling the books that you need locally.

Rapidsoftsystems-- A software and Hardware development Company, USA
On paper, buying a used textbook may seem like a wise financial decision. Unfortunately, there are not many avenues to buy and sell it. So campusa2z.com is designed to do just that.
Looking for used textbooks? Look no further. campusa2z Network guarantees quality used textbooks at competitive prices, and we have over 5 Million used and new books.

5 most-wanted Windows 8 features for Windows Phone

Windows 8 borrows the "Metro" interface originated for Microsoft's Windows Phone OS, but there are a lot of great features tucked into the deeper OS for desktops and tablets that could also lend power to the phone.

In June, Microsoft shared many new Windows Phone 8 features, but certainly not all of them. When Redmond reveals even more tricks for the new OS in its September 5 launch event, it's very likely that some of these Windows 8 goodies will make the jump from desktops and tablets to the smaller screen.

Synchronize IE10
Variations of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 10 browser will be on all three devices: the phone, the tablet, and the PC. Logging in to Windows 8 with your ID and password will sync your preferences, passwords, history, and bookmarks. Since you already log in to the phone when you initially set it up, look for this to come.

Sync apps
Logging in to Windows 8 with your ID also syncs Facebook and Twitter accounts, your e-mail, and chat between Windows 8 on any Windows 8 device. This would be infinitely useful for the smartphone, particularly if Windows phone owners also own Windows 8 tablets or desktops and could swap among them with ease.

The same would ideally apply to apps. Download a photo-editing app on the desktop, for instance, should ideally push the right version to the tablet and to the phone. I envision a world in which developers who create for three form factors can sell access through in-app purchases, new to the smartphone in Windows Phone 8.

Picture log-in
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich already has its face-unlock feature, which lets you into a locked phone when your visage (or a photo) matches the one stored in its database. It looks like Windows Phone 8 could get something similar, too, but even more secure. For instance, you can turn your photo into your log-in background, then draw with your finger on the screen instead of typing in a PIN.

File Explorer
Windows Phone 7.x doesn't have a File Explorer. I can't blame them for wanting to shun the Windows Mobile legacy of a labyrinthine file system that felt too much like getting tangled up in desktop computing on a too-small screen.

However, Microsoft's designers have found away to make the file system touch-friendly, so it could be time for a refresh to go along with search. In addition, many Android phones also include an explorer, and parity with Android and iOS are crucial to Windows Phone's success.

Universal search
Enter a term into the "Search Charm" in Windows 8, and you'll see results for a file, application, or setting. You can also search within Metro apps. Windows Phone 7 has a couple of search options in apps and for Bing, but there's no universal search that can trawl everything on the phone. This is a sore spot for Windows Phone, since search on its major competitors -- iOS, Android, and BlackBerry -- can call up apps, contacts, and Web search terms after you type in a few letters. C'mon, Microsoft, let's make this happen!

Since Windows Phone 8 shares a lot of the same basic code base as Windows 8, there's a good chance we'll see mobile versions of these features transpire.

Top Features of Apple's New Mobile Operating System

With the iPhone's impending launch, Apple's next operating system iOS6 has been given some spotlight. But with all the crazy rumors being thrown around, the features of the latest operating system are not always clear.

Here are the major features of iOS6 as we prepare for its launch with the iPhone and next iPad.

Multi-Platform Support

The release date or cost of iOS6 has yet to be announced, but you can bet that it will be available in coming weeks. The system is available for developers and there are rumors that September 12 may be the day it is finally available to customers. When that day comes users of the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, new iPad, and the fourth generation iPod touch will have access to the new operating system.

The system will also launch with the next generation iPod touch, iPad mini, and iPhone 5.

Apple has not charged users for upgrades since the iOS3, so it is unlikely that they do that with iOS6.

Siri

Siri started off mainly as minor gimmick for iPhone users. But the latest upgrade will enable users to get sports game updates, make restaurant reservations, watch movie trailers, and even tweet by voice. Google's new map system (more on that later) will integrate with Yelp, enabling users to ask Siri to get business information also.

Siri will also be available to iPad users with updates and similar features.

Apple Map App

The new map app is the replacement for Google Maps and includes Flyover, which is a 3D mapping system that creates photographic three-dimensional satellite views over cities. It functions in almost all the same ways as your standard navigating system but takes away the Street View Available through Google.

New iCloud Features

iCloud is the cornerstone of any Apple OS upgrade. For iOS 6, Apple will now include "Documents in the Cloud" which integrates applications like Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. There will also be new content for calendar, contacts, and other downloaded products.

New Phone Features

"Remind me later" will allow you to skip a call and then... remind you to call back. You have the power to determine if the reminder should happen after a certain amount of time or when you leave a location or arrive somewhere.
Facetime also becomes available over 3G.

Users will also have an alarm clock app that will play your favorite song when you want it to wake you up. The current iOS5 has restrictions on the sounds that it will play on the alarm clock. The app enhancement will also be available for the iPad.

No More Youtube App

In case you haven't heard, the standard Youtube App will not be available with iOS6. Google is working on a downloadable one that is said to be a major upgrade over the previous incarnations on Apple devices.

Passbook

A completely new App from Apple that will enable users to book Airline tickets with certain airlines. Once the ticket is purchased, it will be sent right to the Passbook on the iPhone and when the user enters the appropriate location (since the iOS6 is location sensitive), it will display the barcode and ticket on the phone. As of now, there is no say on what companies support the app, but it will certainly go a long way toward Apple's plan to integrate with businesses and retail.
